Google Ads Account Managers Should Not Contact Customers Straight

There are a growing number of reports across the web of Google Ads accounts managers threatening to get in touch with customers straight, regardless of not being permitted to.

According to the reports, companies who do not respond to e-mails from Google Advertisements account supervisors are being met with threats from Google representatives to call customers straight.

In some cases, the Google Advertisements account managers call customers and tell them to drop their firms.

There are 2 things to make clear here:

  1. Agencies are not required to speak to Google associates
  2. At no point should a Google Ads account supervisor call a firm’s customer

However, these reports are becoming more regular.

Matt Janaway, CEO of Marketing Labs, shared his experience on LinkedIn this week:

Throughout October, reports circulated on Reddit of Google reps engaging in similar practices. One Reddit user posted a screenshot of an email gotten by a Google Advertisements Account

Strategist, which reads: “I am composing to you one last time as a courtesy, since my honest objective is to supply you

value and sophisticated strategies with google ads and deal with you closely, to help you conserve time and make your customers more successful with google ads, thus I am calling you for the last time to inform you that if I do not reach you, I will presume that you are not getting my emails and will call the customers that I have been appointed directly.”Another Reddit user has almost the same story, saying they

‘ve been “bothered”with daily emails from a Google Advertisements associate to get on a call and execute project changes. Once again, firms aren’t obliged to talk with Google representatives or implement modifications customers aren’t requesting for.
